London Fire Brigade Cadet Force
London Fire Brigade Cadet Force
Inspired by my uncle, who proudly served over 15 years in the fire service, I wanted to learn more about the London Fire Brigade and the vital role it plays in protecting communities. That inspiration led me to begin my own journey with the London Fire Brigade Cadet Force.
I joined the cadets in 2022, working my way up to earn a rank within the force. I trained and served with the cadets until January 2025, when I decided to step back to focus on my career development — though I plan to return in Summer 2026 to continue building on the experiences that shaped me.
During my time as a cadet, I took part in intensive training exercises, including live fire drills (YH1), navigating heated basement stairs blindfolded, dragging heavy dummies to safety, and practicing rescues in fire cages — all designed to replicate real-life emergencies. These challenges pushed me both physically and mentally, preparing me for teamwork under pressure and the discipline needed in emergency service environments.
Along the way, I gained valuable skills while also sharing the knowledge and experience I already had with new cadets. Beyond training, I proudly represented the London Fire Brigade at public open days and even had the privilege of riding in the cabin of the London Fire Boat on the River Thames during a royal event.
The London Fire Brigade Cadet Force gave me more than just practical training — it gave me confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a sense of responsibility to serve others. It’s an experience that continues to shape my goals for the future.
